‘AFTERLIVES’ part three! Our heroes’ mission into the afterlife goes horribly wrong when the Demons Three trap the Justice League in a hellish realm where they’re haunted and tortured by the ghosts of fallen heroes, dead villains and innocent civilians whose lives they failed to save.

What is this all about?

Justice League #24Something is amiss in the Atlantic. The Justice League investigates the state of affairs, finding Mera to be the cause. She is going mad because Arthur was cast down as king of Atlantis. I think that Mera is sometimes underrated as a superhero because in this issue we get to see her straight up man-handle the Justice League! She even removes the rings from our Green Lanterns at one point. I really like what we see in Mera in this issue. It reminds me of Aspen from Michael Turner’s Fathom. Totally not related to DC, but hey… I’m a huge fan of water powers!

The Review

The artwork is fantastic and the colors are not very bright. I don’t mean this in a bad way, I’m just pointing out that everything looks dim against the dark gray sky in the background. Which really is quite fitting for what’s happening, and it sets the tone for the issue. So a big thumbs up to Adriano Lucas for proper coloring, and to Ian Churchill for wonderful art. Dan Abnet guest writes this issue and I think he did a pretty good job. The writing and story are pretty usual of a Justice League comic and I feel like it’s setting up for something really cool. I recommend picking this book up in your pull for the week. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
