Super Sons #2 is the second story in the arc “When I Grow Up…”, continuing where we left off last time with Super-Lex, Damian, and Jon. This whole encounter in the front of the story is just a ton of fun, with Damian using Jon as a distraction to get what he wants. Going so far as to throw Jon off the tower, mentioning to Lex that he can’t fly, sending Jon plummeting and forcing Lex to save him.

Damian and Jon are currently the definition of a dysfunctional team. Damian is so focused on the case at hand that he will do anything to get to the bottom of it. Where Jon is along for the ride, but really concerned about getting in trouble with Superdad along the way. They both embody the best of their father’s abilities, but with no real refinement, this is where all of the fun is.

Throughout the issue, we get peaks into how well they can work together, quickly brought down by quips from one another. Culminating with them finding the TV set we saw in each Prologue and revealing who those people were. The final panel revealing Damian’s and Jon’s true nature, along with the fact that Superman and Batman had been keeping an eye on each of them all along.

Jiminez and Sanchez do another great job here on art, really bringing the story to life. Jiminez’s pencils are just the perfect match for this book, while it is on the cartoony side, there is grit when needed. Along with the very clean colors of Sanchez, this book is a thing to admire.
